The year 2019 came and went in the blink of an eye and we now find ourselves facing the end, and the beginning – 2020. Natural and man-made disasters, political shifts, and economic restructuring; each played a role in this year’s story. Despite many challenges the mission of educational advancement for our future youth leaders in Haiti continued, shedding positive light on shared priorities.
January 1st, in addition to being New Year’s Day, is Independence Day for Haiti (January 1, 1804) – the 216th year anniversary. To read the Haiti Declaration of Independence (click here). Education is one of the strongest indicators of true independence and is the foundation from which economies and communities grow, and sustain.
Sustainable economic rebuilding is a collaborative affair that we as global citizens must continue to influence, and DO. The power to change our future is in the will to educate our youth. Education is the ultimate freedom and a catalyst for a new year of historic achievements.
As we begin this year 2020 we gift you with servings of Haiti’s traditional New Year’s Independence Day Soup Joumou. We invite you to enjoy it with family and friends on New Year’s Day and throughout the year, and to share it with people who go beyond your normal circle – to truly impact change.
