Le Flambeau Foundation will launch THE SPARK of Le Flambeau Spring 2025 session on May 3rd, 2025; entering the seventeenth year of the program. The THE SPARK of LF is an online English discussion program focused on extending educational opportunities to bright youth (up to 27 yrs old) living in Haiti. The program was developed by youth and provides a path for students to engage and earn their way forward with learning English as the entry point. A number of past participants earned access to new networks and scholarships to college and upskilling.
This Spring 2025 THE SPARK of Le Flambeau class session will run for five weeks from May 3rd to June 6, 2025. Our volunteer Ms. Alexis Floyd is back by popular demand and will be leading the session as English facilitator and Grader, launching her 4th year.
Meet Our Class English Grader
English Grader Ms. Alexis Floyd has been recognized by the Le Flambeau Foundation as an exceptional volunteer, for both her selfless commitment to helping the youth in Haiti and her commitment to excellence in identifying and implementing innovative practices for engaged learning. Alexis is a native English speaker and proud African-American, bringing a wealth of cultural insight to her role as a facilitator and grader. Her diverse interests in international music, languages, and travel enrich her approach. With a diverse background, including learning and development, project management, and administration, she fosters dynamic discussions. Her international experience fuels her passion for the black diaspora and community leadership. Continuously learning about Haiti and its people, she’s honored to empower individuals and foster meaningful connections globally through her support of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau. Alexis is now entering her fourth year as English Grader for the program.
Changing the Situation.
Le Flambeau Foundation is pleased to be launching this new class. Learning the English language can serve as a tremendous asset and driver for elevation. This semester’s class attracted participating youth located in Haiti with most coming from the Cap-Haïtien region. The top participants who complete the session will each receive a 2-year English learning Babbel app, resulting from the Foundation’s partnership with Babbel, and they will also receive Le Flambeau Foundation achievement certificates. The grand winner “THE SPARK” of Le Flambeau will receive a Samsung tablet along with an achievement certificate and elevated access to educational and upskilling opportunities. Le Flambeau Foundation Executive Director, Ms. S. Colas-Gervais quoted “Aprann Anglè. Chanje Sitiyasyon.”…(Learn English. Change the Situation).
