Le Flambeau Laptop Club Launched in North Miami

By Le Flambeau Foundation Staff, July 24, 2013

Students excitedly raised their hands and responded to questions as they prepared for the presentation…

– What is Character?…”personality” one student answered.
– What is Intellect?…”how smart someone is” another responded.
– What is Passion? …a young man raised his hand with so much passion – clearly he chose to simply demonstrate it.

Honorable Jean Monestime our District 2 Commissioner, his assistant and Community Liaison Evelt Jeudy, Pastor David Eugene of the Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church, teachers, and students were all present for the special presentation being made by Le Flambeau Foundation ;  launching a Le Flambeau Laptop Club afterschool learning experience at the Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church.  The focus is on languages and culture with an emphasis in STEM subjects.  Activities are managed and run by the host.

Le Flambeau Foundation donated five DELL notebook computers along with educational CD’s to the Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church, presented by the Foundation’s president Jean St.Lot-Gervais.

“It is an honor to be a part of this movement as the torch was once passed forward to me.  I take pride in doing the same for others…it is my passion to make a difference by being the difference.  Each one reach one, each one teach one.”  said St.Lot-Gervais.

On Tuesday July 23rd, the torch was again passed forward and judging from the students’ enthusiastic participation it will be passed forward for many generations to come – to and from those with remarkable Character, Intellect and Passion.

The future is bright!

A special “Thank You” is extended to DELL computers.
