Dear Friends:
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! It seems as if the year 2012 came and went in the blink of an eye and we now find ourselves facing the end, and the beginning. This has been an active year.
From a Le Flambeau Foundation standpoint we were proud to take scholar Ruchama to school and to see her blossom as she completed her first semester. We also had two full semesters with THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program and this fall semester we gave birth to the college edition of the program, working closely with the University of Miami as it became a part of a college writing class. Students in Haiti, at the University of Miami, and from Haiti at Miami Edison Sr. High School; made up one of our larger classes in the 4 year history of the program – it was life-changing for many. This year we also had many new members join us in our commitment to education for youth in and from Haiti. Wonderful!
Pulling back and looking at the year from a global perspective, there have been many changes and there are many more to come. Haiti continues to be a focus in the news and in our conversations, with strong connections to the global circle. Economic rebuilding is a joint affair that’s progressing. The challenges of natural disasters played a larger role than expected and highlighted priorities. The spirit to overcome is stronger then ever and I believe that the walk will walk.
As you end the year and plan ahead keep us in your minds and hearts…and consider one more step when determining who to include in your year-end contributions. Join us and leave your legacy.
The year 2012 has been a full one. Thank you for your support. A prosperous 2013 is ahead.
