Grand Winner THE SPARK of Le Flambeau 2024

This Spring 2024 class session of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau ran for five weeks during the months of February and March, with youth in Haiti. Our volunteer Ms. Alexis (Floyd) came back by popular demand and lead the session as English Grader for the sixth time.  We congratulate the youth in Haiti who participated in this Spring 2024 class session of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau, as the program entered its sixteenth year.  The quality of this group of young people in Haiti was superb.

About THE SPARK of Le Flambeau. This is an online English discussion program focused on extending educational opportunities to bright youth (up to 27 yrs old) in and from Haiti. The program was developed by youth in the U.S. and in Haiti, and provides a path for students to engage and earn their way forward – a number of past participants earned scholarships to college or shorter-term upskilling programs (eg. tech. etc.) aimed at self-sufficiency and circular sustainability.

On behalf of Le Flambeau Foundation , a heartfelt thank you is extended to our volunteer English Grader Ms. Alexis! Her dedication and passion fueled the minds of Haitian youth participating in our weekly program, even amidst Haiti’s current circumstances. Discussions explored diverse topics such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and mental health.  We also extend immense gratitude to Femina. whose student mentorship played a vital role in providing topic and tech guidance to many of the students. This spirit of mutual support embodies Le Flambeau Foundation ’s core principle: we empower each other to empower others. Together, we pave the way to a brighter future.

After 16 years of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program, it continues to inspire us.  The unwavering enthusiasm of our youth in Haiti, along with their fresh, intelligent, and innovative ideas, leave us constantly impressed. They are the torchbearers for a positive change in Haiti, impacting all of us. The future is bright!

Merci!

Sheri Colas-Gervais, Board and Executive Director, Le Flambeau Foundation , Inc .
