Haitian Children Gifted with School Books

The holiday spirit is year-round.  Haitian children in Little Haiti (Miami, FL) were pleasantly surprised as they were gifted with school books this October.  The books, donated to the Le Flambeau Foundation by Kids for Kids Academy, were personally delivered by our president  to two locations in Little Haiti – locations where we were certain the children would treasure having these.

The gifts were a combination of gently used hard cover Math, Science and FCAT Prep elementary school text books as well as brand new books in these same subjects.   Included in the Le Flambeau Foundation deliveries were boxes of educational toys and learning games received from  Get Smart.

“Those children were thirsty and it is as if we brought them water – for their minds, their souls and their future.  One little girl looked up and asked me if these were Christmas gifts.  She then asked if I was Haitian.  I responded in Kreyol and said “yes”.  They all laughed and gave me a huge hug and a big Thank You.  The moment was priceless.  We give and take from each other and in the end we pray that it balances out.  Today I received far more than was given. ” said  St.Lot-Gervais.

Thank You to our donors, Kids for Kids Academy and Get Smart,  for making this possible.  We share the hug.  The holiday spirit is indeed year-round.
