Entrepreneurship Education Launches in Haiti

The first training session for the Le Flambeau Foundation Entrepreneurship Initiative was launched in Haiti this summer.  Youth from Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas (including Camp-Perrin) participated in the first class which covered basic product, sales and customer service training; as it applies to Haiti.  The  new English learning CD’s (special Creole guidance), developed for the Le Flambeau Foundation by EuroTalk, was the featured product.

The class was taught by instructor Sheri Colas-Gervais who shared her experience in teaching business operations, customer service and marketing for corporations doing business in Haiti and in the U.S.  Participating students offered input,  asked questions and actively engaged in role-playing skits during the class session.  Additional training sessions are forthcoming, running parallel to the phase two.  Phase two is a transition from book sense to real cents, the actual application of lessons learned combined with existing talents.  Phase two will launch in October with youth mentor Schneider (pictured at top with white shirt) and his team taking the lead.  Phase two will rely on the application, creativity and determination of the participating youth.

The Le Flambeau Foundation Entrepreneurship Initiative was designed to offer youth an education in  entrepreneurship, the opportunity to apply the principles for real-life experience, and the ability to create income for themselves and for those around them…basically Skill Enhancement, Job Creation, Sustainable rebuilding for Haiti.   Scholar Ruchama (pictured holding CD set) is leading the administrative implementation.   Youth mentor Schneider and his team is the first group to launch phase two.  One more team recently signed on.   We are looking forward to reporting impressive accomplishments.
