Students Raise the Bar in English Learning

Today we launched the Spring 2012 session of  THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program.  A unique language exchange initiative now in its fourth year, born from the collaborative efforts of Le Flambeau Foundation , student leaders (special thank you to founding member Angie), IT advisors and volunteer educators; THE SPARK of Le Flambeau continues to grow as we welcome new U.S. members from the University of Miami and new Haiti members from Cap-Haitien, Jacmel and of course Port-au-Prince.  This semester differs from previous sessions and offers the opportunity for an even more engaging forum.   For the first time in the program’s history all of the dialogue will be in English – an immersion experience designed to accelerate English learning for youth in Haiti and enhance English writing skills for all.   Our session for this semester will last four weeks (March 19th to April 14th) with plans for significant upgrades in Fall 2012.

New members joined us this semester, in the U.S. and in Haiti.  We also have a new student moderator team which includes a member from Haiti; they are leading the team through lively discussions over the four week session.  This will be a rewarding semester with new learnings, new friends and positive new beginnings for Haiti and for those in the U.S. contributing to this unique rebuilding.  The future is bright!

Warm Regards,

Le Flambeau Foundation Inc.
