Dear Friends:
These are exciting times as we prepare to announce the winners of the THE SPARK of Le Flambeau fall 2011 semester and we continue to raise the bar for our future leaders. We are certain that throughout the 10-week language exchange program with students in Haiti and in the U.S., the educational contributions of each award recipient served at some point as THE SPARK for a young person or persons in our communities.
This is the fourth year for THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program and each year we find ourselves rewarding, and rewarded. New this semester was a field trip to Little Haiti for the U.S. students, which in turn motivated them to come together and donate books and art tools for youth in Little Haiti and Haiti. A student in Haiti will soon be headed to the U.S. to earn her four year college degree in accounting – a significant change in her life resulting from her participation and exceptional contributions while in the THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program. The connections made when young people help each other have lifelong impact, creating links that strengthen with time and ultimately fuel change. The full power of our actions will be seen in the years to come.
It is clear that the Torch is lit and, most importantly, being passed forward. The future is bright, and getting brighter. To every active member of the team this past semester – Thank You. To THE SPARK of Le Flambeau award recipients – Congratulations!!!
Warmest Regards,
Le Flambeau Foundation , Inc.
