About THE SPARK of Le Flambeau. This is an online English discussion program focused on extending educational opportunities to bright youth (up to 27 yrs old) in and from Haiti. The program was developed by youth in the U.S. (Coral Reef High School) in collaboration with youth in Haiti, and provides a path for students to engage and earn their way forward – a number of past participants earned scholarships to college or shorter-term upskilling programs (eg. tech. etc.) aimed at self-sufficiency and circular sustainability. Winners receive certificates and tools that will assist with their on-going education.
On behalf of the Le Flambeau Foundation , a heartfelt thank you is extended to our volunteer English Grader Ms. Alexis Floyd! Her dedication and passion fueled the minds of youth in Haiti who were participating in our weekly discussions, even amidst Haiti’s current circumstances. Discussions explored diverse topics that were particularly relevant to gender and culture in Haiti. We also extend immense gratitude to our community partners for this session Club Femina and College Martin Luther King; whose student mentorship played a vital role in providing guidance to many of the students. This spirit of mutual support embodies that of the Le Flambeau Foundation ’s core principle: we empower each other to empower others. Together, we pave the way to a brighter future.
After 16 years of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program, it continues to inspire us. The unwavering enthusiasm of our youth in Haiti, along with their fresh, intelligent, and innovative ideas, leave us constantly impressed. They are the torchbearers for a positive change in Haiti, impacting all of us. The future is bright!
