Haiti Scholarship Recipient Announced

Le Flambeau Foundation , Inc., February 2, 2023

We are pleased to announce the recipient of the first Le Flambeau Foundation coding scholarship for youth in Haiti.  Youth leader Dervain Valbrun who is originally from Cap-Haitien, lives in Port-au-Prince, and is a past participant of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau English discussion program; is the scholarship recipient.  Dervain received a fully paid scholarship for the 12-week rigorous CodePath “Intro to Mobile Product Development” workshop series being held in Haiti.  This CodePath course is taught by Transition Digitale and begins on February 1, 2023.

To get a sense for who our scholarship recipient is, view the following interview responses from Dervain.

“What interests me about technology is that thanks to it our life has become less complicated.  All things are almost at hand.  What intrigues me, I can say that the world seems small – for example today we can communicate with people living anywhere in the world, but before it was really complicated.  Now there are many inventions, which help us to live better, to make less effort. Technology is essential for all of us.

As to my vision for my future, I would like to be a great computer developer, in this field.   I could help my community, especially for those who have an interest in this field.  Always be curious about what’s new in technology and make a positive difference.”

We thank the scholarship selection committee consisting of  Mr. Jean St.Lot-Gervais, Mr. Didier Desmangles, and Mr. Carly Baja.  Congratulations to our winner and to all – in the end everyone benefits.  The future is bright!
