It’s Back to School time for all of us. As we head into the holiday weekend following is a quick update on Le Flambeau Foundation happenings …
- Haiti – shifting of leadership team responsibilities, new investments, new players, the Olympics, more hotels, accelerated technology transfer, Gold, tourism spotlights, hurricane Isaac, and more (see Haiti News).
- Achievements – congratulations to winners of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau Spring 2012 session, and to the impressive contributions our Le Flambeau Youth Club members.
- Scholar Update – Le Flambeau scholar Ruchama is well into her four-year college experience and shares with us a reflection on her summer and her vision for her first semester. (read her piece)
- New Class Launch – THE SPARK of Le Flambeau will soon kick-off its 9th session (4th year), this will be our first college edition of the program where Haitian students will be a part of a college class at the University of Miami, all in English, classes begin mid September.
- French / English Exchange – the traditional THE SPARK of Le Flambeau format will return for the spring 2013 (January) session…by popular demand, with an increasingly diverse group throughout the U.S. and in Haiti.
- Next Award – we are ready to announce the next award recipient(s) – college scholarship, TOEFL stipends, educational exchange experiences, laptop computers, etc., and could use your help – make the difference (sponsor or donate now).
Welcome to an innovative, energizing and rewarding school year of rebuilding a sustainable Haiti via education. We are passing it forward and things are happening. Welcome back to school!
