Le Flambeau Foundation Graduation Reception

The Le Flambeau Foundation Graduation Reception was held on May 12th, 2011 in Miami at the Futernick Family Art Gallery at the Dave & Mary Alper JCC  on the Jay Morton-Levinthal Campus.    The impressive accomplishments of the three graduating Le Flambeau Foundation scholars were applauded.

Heartwarming remarks were presented by Carina of the New World Symphony and by Angie the founding student team leader of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program; both previously engaged with the Foundation and with the featured scholar.

The featured scholar was Ruchama Charles who received the Foundation’s very first Certificate of Achievement for completion of the Le Flambeau Foundation Rebuild Haiti program, a partnership initiative with North Central Missouri College.

Ruchama offered remarks and then gifted reception guests with a special violin performance of two classical pieces (solo).  Following were two Haitian musicpieces, uniquely performed by Ruchama on violin with famous Haitian tanbou player Jude Papaloko, provided a unique cultural flavor; complimenting the food, music and spirit of the occasion.

A silent Haitian art auction was held with a focus on raising funds to award a young person in Haiti with the next scholarship for the Le FlambeauFoundation Rebuild Haiti program, starting in September.  A few art pieces remain – if interested, please e-mail scholarships@leflambeau-foundation.org.

Much appreciation is extended to the team at the Dave & Mary Alper JCC  on the Jay Morton-Levinthal Campus for donating the venue (Futernick Family Art Gallery) and supporting us, to Richard White for donating the silver frame for the Albert Desmangles fine Haitian painting, to Jude Papaloko for donating the use of his two “Marassa” sculptures (on each side of the podium) and his tanbou talents, to Touché Marketing for donating the Haitian paintings, to the volunteer students from Terra Environment Research Institute (Bijou, Alejandra, Cailey), and to D. Lochet, A. Llanos, and A. Kebreau for their selfless contributions at the event.   Thank You!

Congratulations to all!!!
