THE SPARK of Le Flambeau
THE SPARK of Le Flambeau is a unique language exchange program between students in Haiti and students in the U.S, now entering its 7th session. This project was initiated by the Le Flambeau Foundation in partnership with the International Baccalaureate students of Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami, Florida. Students from other cities /schools have since joined the team. A group of student leaders moderate the weekly discussions. Students in the U.S. and Haiti partner up and help each other. This program aims to improve fluency in reading and writing in English and in French. The sessions are run on the general school schedule, so two sessions are held during the normal school year. A summer program is conducted based on demand. Participants must be recommended, as space is limited. Students in Haiti, as a result of kind contributions received from U.S. students and our general Le Flambeau Foundation donors, have an opportunity to earn stipends for TOEFL test practice kits (Books and CD’s), English language software, notebook computers, and TOEFL test-taking fees that are fully paid for.
