Winners SPARK Le Flambeau

A campus tour given by the top students at the University of Miami, delicious Haitian food complimented by Haitian music, remarks from special guest world famous Haitian-American composer  Sydney Guillaume, students from

University of Miami and students from Haiti attending Miami Edison Sr. High School, – the presence of our student team members in Haiti could also be felt; all came together for the recognition ceremony at which the winners of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program from this past fall semester 2012  were announced.

“THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program is headed into its fifth year” said Le Flambeau Foundation board member Sheri Colas-Gervais.  “This semester was a first for the college edition of the program, a unique collaborative effort resulting from Le Flambeau Foundation working closely with the University of Miami, providing high school students in and from Haiti an opportunity to participate in a college writing class via on-line discussion and two field trips.  We thank Professor Schriftman for opening up his class to our students”

Students from many backgrounds were exposed to new experiences and possibilities, exchanging and embracing new realities for the betterment of themselves and of those around them.   Monday December 3rd 2012 brought everything together for a memorable and life-changing occasion.  The semester had been completed and the torch again put in motion as it was passed forward for another positive chapter of a story that will never end.
